Help for children

By Julia Litvinenko

Ukraine,
Sep 12, 2022

aiSince I have children, I began to empathize very much with sick children and their parents who are collecting money for treatments. On my social network pages, I began to disseminate information on the costs. Basically, these are children with cancer and SMA, spinal muscular atrophy.
aiUntil recently there was no cure, and now one injection can save a child, but it costs more than 2 million dollars and it needs to be administered up to 2 years.
aiIn some countries, insurance covers its cost. In Ukraine, the manufacturer holds a lottery so some can children win an injection, some managed to collect this incredible amount and buy it, some did not wait for either one...

Over $2m for one patient! In Ukraine, a child might win a lottery for an injection.

aiAt the beginning of the war, I stopped helping with this. Then sometime in April, I gradually started to disseminate information again.
aiVolunteering is important to me. Even before the war, I sorted my household waste and handed it over to a volunteer organization because Ukraine does not yet have a clear system for recycling. Now I'm not as active as before, but still I am doing what I can.
