war story

Vyshgorod, Kiev region, Ukraine - Aug 26, 2022

In memory of fallen friends

and all fallen Ukrainians

By Nataliia Ponomarenko

Vyshgorod, Kiev region, Ukraine,
Aug 26, 2022

aiMarch 9. In the morning, a call from my husband. "Katya, Vitalik and their three boys are gone..." he says and I hear his throat tighten. I don't believe what I hear. "What?" I ask again. "Katya, Vitalik and their three boys are gone..." my husband repeats to me and I feel tears in his voice and I can't stand it myself.... A moment of silence. Tears are flowing down the face in hail.
ai"They wanted to leave Sumy in the morning here, towards Volyn... but they didn't wake up... a Russian fighter jet dropped a bomb on their house at night", on their new home, in which they didn't even have time to live for a year.
aiThere are no words... Our good friends, we had a good tradition with them - every summer we rafted in kayaks with tents, went fishing on the Dnipro. It was always fun with them.

But they didn't wake up... a Russian fighter jet dropped a bomb on their house at night.

aiI had about 4,000 hryvnias left on my card, and I sent 2,000 hryvnias to Vitalik's mother.
aiThe family was demonstrative. Vitalik had a business, the boys are wonderful: the eldest is the champion of Ukraine in sambo, Katya is a beauty and guardian of the family hearth. Rest in peace! You are forever in our hearts.
aiThe damned war and all those who started and continue it took away our time, plans, spring and summer, future, homes, limbs and the most valuable thing - many lives of Ukrainians. How to live on when your closest and dearest people are taken away from you? Many families and lives are crippled! One cannot forget and forgive such a thing!
