aiAny loss in war is painful. When a young, handsome man gifted with many talents dies, when you understand how much he could have done as a scientist and as an artist, you feel anger and powerlessness...
aiBut you can't give in to despair. It is necessary to tell the world about one of those whose life, talent, future achievements were canceled by this terrible war. Another one of those…
aiFor the world to be horrified. To dare to resolutely repel the aggressor who has not yet been punished.
aiOleksandr Nevgasimov. Born in 1992. Originally from Vovchansk, Kharkiv region. Graduated from the Faculty of Physics of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Junior researcher at Karazin University, engineer in the Department of Experimental Physics. Amateur artist featured in two exhibitions. These are dry facts.
ai...Colleagues talk about him as a decent, responsible, kind and sensitive person – and at the same time confident when it was necessary to make independent decisions.
aiOleksandr didn't necessarily expect to pursue a career in science. However, he mastered complex techniques in the physics of thin films at the department of experimental physics. As Nevgasymov demonstrated his abilities and perseverance, he was appointed executor of research in the development of fabric-based ultraviolet sensors over a broad surface. He wrote scientific articles, gave reports at international conferences...
aiAnd he was an artist! How did he discover his creative talents? Oleksandr explained in a poster for his art show: "It all started when I had an interesting dream that I wanted to record and decided to write a book based on it. I wanted to see if I could be a writer. I tried a lot of things, but suddenly the idea came to me to draw illustrations for my work."
ai
aiIn fact, this is what he started doing. "I did not know how to draw properly; what I had learned at school allowed me to create something similar to a 'painting.' But then I got very interested and set out to improve my skills. As I postponed  writing my book, I discovered the world of colors. I began to try different styles, materials, experimented a lot and was not afraid to do it."

Two months after the start of front-line service Oleksandr Nevgasimov was killed by mortar fire. He was recognized by a tattoo on his arm...

aiOleksandr's artistic talent was also needed at work. His creative experience along with his ability to use illustration software enabled him to prepare high-quality images for his department's scientific publications. This significantly increased their chance of being published in foreign scientific journals.
ai...From the very beginning of the great war, Оlexandr remained in Kharkiv. In the most difficult times, when his laboratory was heavily damaged by shelling, he and his colleague saved equipment, installed boards in place of broken windows. And continued their research.
aiHe was scheduled to enter graduate school in 2023. But... in March of the same year, Oleksandr received a summons and was mobilized for military service. For two months, Nevgasimov studied at the National Academy of Ground Forces where he received the qualification of 'tactical level officer.' In May, he became motorized infantry platoon commander of the motorized infantry battalion of the 54th separate mechanized brigade. His unit was sent in the Bakhmut direction.
aiTwo months after the start of his front-line service, on July 30, 2023, Oleksandr Nevgasimov was killed by mortar fire near the village of Rozdolivka in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region as a result of a gunshot wound to the head. He was recognized by a tattoo on his arm...
aiThis is how the war ended the life of a young scientist and artist. At the 18th cemetery of the city of Kharkiv where he was buried, the sea of flags reaches to the sky... And the end of the war is still in sight...
aiOleksandr's scientific work remains. Dozens of his paintings remain. The memory of this wonderful man remains.
aiThe memory of you, Oleksandr, will never fade!
