Basement first 3 days

By Olha Zahoruiko

aiOnce, while we were in the basement, we heard whirlwinds, a new funneling sound. At first we didn't even understand what the new sound was - like a long swirling and whistling and a hard bang later. It was the Tornado missile's reactive system of volley fire. Long extended sounds - MLRS Hurricane (Uragan). And one time there was something creepy, as we were later told - Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower.
aiWhen we were sitting in the basement and something flew over us to Kharkiv, the window shade on the ventilator was sucked in by the vacuum inside the window..

Every time something flew over us, the window shade was sucked in by the vacuum inside the window

aiWe didn't go to the basement all the time; in three days my brain quickly enough began to discern the range, near or far, which way, whether it was hail or tornado or something else, whether it flew in or out. Sometimes there were gunshots, and it seemed close, so it did not even occur to me to go to the store.
aiThere was a curfew starting at 4 pm, you could only walk around the house with a flashlight. It was impossible to do anything.
