Dreams of a peaceful summer, my lost home
Dreams of a peaceful summer, my lost home
aiOne summer day, I was walking through the streets of my temporary town in Germany taking photos. One made me feel like I was at my home in Ukraine or on summer vacation with my grandparents in their village. If I block off everything around me with both hands and just look at the field, the combine, and the sunset, it is exactly what I remember from my childhood.
aiI'm back when I was a little girl playing in the yard, hearing trucks passing by, transporting freshly harvested grain to storage.
aiI remember sitting on my grandpa's bench, enjoying watching the combines carrying the fatigue of the day with them. The coolness of the evening, filled with the smell of the grain brought from the fields, created the magic of a carefree summer.
I'm 20 now, and I still want to feel this carefree feeling, at least for a few days.
aiSadly, this was taken away by the terrorist state: my hometown was destroyed, the village is also under bombardment. People are forced to harvest crops, or what remains of them, under fire as Russia turns everything to ashes.
aiDespite all the challenges I've faced, the dream of returning to happy summer days still lives on in me.
aiI believe that the time will come when the terrorist state will disappear from our lives, and we will be able to enjoy the feeling of home and the beauty of nature on our peaceful land again.
